SAILI has a vital role to play in the current educational scenario where some of the challenges include the lack of suitably qualified educators, underresourced schools, overcrowded classrooms and, most importantly, the failure to produce large numbers of black matriculants passing with mathematics and science.

SAILI, through its Learner Placement Programme, continues to play an important role in helping to increase the pool of black matriculants passing with appropriate qualifications at tertiary level.
